Operations Engineer Windows/Unix

Job Description

The Operations Engineer is the main source of technical expertise for our team of System and Network specialists. This position will support and troubleshoot the Dedicated Managed Hosting environments of our customers, in addition to installing new customer projects. Your main function will be the on-time delivery of high quality work, either as an operations or implementation engineer. You will report to the Operations Director.

The Managed Dedicated Hosting environments of our clients include a broad range of technologies.

Tasks and responsibilities 

Be part of a highly skilled and dedicated team to meet “complex managed hosting” Service Level Agreements.

Able to quickly respond to customer needs and concerns relating to their managed hosting environment (OS, backup, network, etc.) and resolve complex technical problems within short time frames.

Proactive diagnostics, fault analysis and problem solving to assure quality of service.

Install new customer environments: OS, firewalls, DNS, NAS, backup, monitoring, etc.

Technical Skills

Profound background in one or more of the bellow described categories :
Linux, Solaris, AIX, HP Unix
Windows Server (2000,2003,...) MCSE not required but considered as an advantage
Very good knowledge of of TCP/IP networking
Very good knowledge of firewalls
Network Security
Work security
Linux Gentoo, Redhat,...
Apache, MySQL, Linux Firewalling, Linux Loadbalancing
server 2000/2005, IIS, AD, MOM, Exchange 
 

Personal Skills

Able to work independently, as well as in close cooperation with team members

A fast learner

Willing to be reachable at night during approximately 7 weeks per year

Willing to take responsibility

Stress-resistant

Capable of thinking Internationally

Valid drivers license

Language skills

Excellent English and Dutch, both spoken and written, plus spoken French is an advantage.
